MARILYN BLAKE

Marilyn Blake passed away in Birmingham on Fri., Nov. 5, 2010.

She was born and raised in Andalusia, where she would reside until 1992. At the time of her death, she was undertaking a correspondence course through “At Home Profession” and was on the Dean’s List. She was a lifelong member of the Church of the Living God.

She leaves to mourn her passing, a daughter, Kenya Blake; one sister, Rosa Wright; four brothers, James (Pamela) Boggs, Floyd (Martha) Wright, both of Montgomery, Robert Wright of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Donald Blake of Birmingham; eight aunt; three uncles; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, friends and well-wishers.

Home-going services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sat., Nov. 13, at the Church of the Living God, located at 608 Tucker Street in Andalusia, with Bishop Frederick K. Sheffield officiating and Elder Larry Blackmon delivering the eulogy.

Mr. Charles Harlon Cunningham, age 79, of Andalusia died Thursday November 11, 2010 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be 2PM Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home with Reverend Randy Kelley officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Cunningham was a veteran of the Korea war and owner of C & C Tire Company in Andalusia.

Mr Cunningham is survived by his wife, Mozell Cunningham of Andalusia, sons, Tim Cunningham of Theodore, AL and Brett Cunningham of Dothan, AL, daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Allen Till of Raleigh, NC, grandchildren, Michael Till, Anna Till, Matthew Till, sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Ray Taylor of Wetumpka, AL, a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Foreman’s.

Mr. Eliga Glen Saunders, age 89, of Wing died Thursday, November 11, 2010 in an Opp hospital. Funeral services will be 2PM Sunday November 14, 2010 at Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home with Reverend John Moss officiating. Interment will follow the service in Sweetwater Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Saunders is survived by sons, Robert (Jean) Saunders of Montgomery, AL and Tommy Saunders of Gantt, AL, grandchildren, John (Kathleen) Saunders of Crestview, FL, Steven Saunders of Birmingham, AL, Susanne (Mark) Goodin of Millbrook, AL, Justin Stanford and Clara Garrett, great grandchildren, Amy Bondurant, Lisa Saunders, Aaron Saunders, Micah Saunders, Dalton Darnell, Lakyn Darnell, Byne Goodin and Kyle Goodin.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Saturday at Foreman’s.

Mrs. Betty Greene, of Andalusia, died Tuesday November 9, 2010 in the Andalusia Hospital.

Mrs. Greene was born June 25, 1929 to Willie Ray and Bessie Mae Cox Carter. She was married to the late Robert Wilbur “Pete”Greene of Andalusia. A member of the First Baptist Church of Andalusia, she was active and part of the Galilean Sunday School Class there at First Baptist. Funeral services will be at 11 AM Friday November 12th from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Fred Karthaus officiating, interment will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thursday at Foreman Funeral Home.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Priscilla and Ray Moore of Washington, GA, her grandchildren, Lane and Leslie Moore of Asheboro, NC, Rev. Curtis and Angel Moore of Thomaston, GA, and Russell and Amy Moore and Helena, AL, her great grandchildren, Carter Moore, Ellen Moore, Ian Moore, Julia Moore, Abby Moore, Anna Moore, Alli Moore, Britney Moore, Brenan Moore, and Brooke Moore, a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Bob Pollard of Jackson, MS

Mrs. Greene is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wilbur “Pete” Greene, her brothers, John Carter, Bob Carter, and Al Carter.

Pallbearers will be Mike Pollard, Michael Pollard, Ron Martin, Justin Martin, Josh Martin, Mike Snowden, Jimmy Greene, Huey Greene, and Jeremy McMath.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Andalusia

Mrs. Renda Harrelson Reeves, 46, of Andalusia, died Thursday November 4, 2010 at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 3 PM Friday November 5th from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Randall Jackson will officiate the service. Visitation will be at 1 PM Friday at Foreman Funeral Home.

Survivors include her husband, Tommy Reeves of Andalusia, her daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Brandon Carr of Andalusia, her step son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Lindsey Reeves, her mother and step father, Barbara and J.T. Raley, her father, Ronnie R. Harrelson, sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Carl Lawson, and grandchildren, Jackson Carr and Ocean Reeves.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Harrelson, Rhett Harrelson, Chad Hampton, Donald Wilson, Tim Bracewell, and Donnie Allen.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Triston Hilburn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Conecuh River Baptist Church.

Mr. Melvin Evans, age 56 of Clio passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010 in a Dothan hospital following a brief illness. He is preceded in death by his parents Emmett and Velar Evans.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday at Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Blue Springs. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services. Rev. Danny Rieben and Rev. Harold Peters will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home of Clio directing.

Survivors include: One son, Mark Evans of Prattville, Three brothers Gerald (Hazel) Evans of Clio, Earl (Inez) Evans of Clio, Douglas (Eva) Evans of Ozark, Sisters, Etha B. Mrs. Pauline Shirah, age 86 of Sylacauga, formerly of Clio passed away Sunday, October 31, 2010 at an assisted living facility in Sylacauga, near a son’s home.

Covington County Sheriff and U.S.Marshalls make Arrest.

 

On 10/31/2010 The Covington County Sheriff’s Office and the

 

U.S. Marshals Service went to a residence on Cender Lane in

 

Andalusia, Al. in an attempt to locate a suspect on warrants.

 

The USMS Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force had received

 

credible information that George Patrick Perkert, a Connecticut

 

Fugitive wanted for Violation of Probation and Failing to Register

 

as a Sex Offender. A team of Agents, Sheriff Dennis Meeks and

 

Deputies went to the home around 11:30 p.m. and found the subject

 

hiding in the house. Perkert was taken into custody and is waiting

 

extradition to Connecticut. He is being held in Covington County Jail.

Mr. Robert Donald “Bob” Topping, 64, of Dozier, died Tuesday October 26, 2010 at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Saturday October 30th from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at 5:30 PM Friday at Foreman Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Topping of Dozier, his daughter and son-in-law, Paula and David Hester of Andalusia, a son, Mark Topping, his grandchildren, Gary Beales, Amy Beales, Ben Hester, David Topping, Andrew Topping, Elizabeth Topping, Matthew Topping,his daughter-in-law Karen Topping, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Brenda Topping, Tony and Janet Topping, and Ken and Chris Topping, his sisters and brothers-in-law, Sylvia and David Ware and Eileen and Jimmy Barnes, all of Preston, England.

Mr. Topping is preceded in death by a sister, Christine Helm.
